Aang deals with cultural appropriation - (x)

People need to stop reblogging this without the rest of the comic :^)

Part 1: Aang has a negative reaction to people who mistakenly hurt his feelings but had good intentions.

Part 2: Aang calms down and acknowledges that those people’s intentions were good and instead of being upset offers to educate and inform those people and SHARES his culture.

Good message there.

Uh no, not “instead of being upset”. He gets rightfully upset. Then realizes the other airbenders are dead and he can make more little airbenders. This is not some “better” alternative to being upset.

It is an OPTION.

You don’t HAVE to share your culture with the people appropriating it.

You do not have to educate people.

You do not exist to be someone’s teacher and to lift up others, especially not people bastardizing your culture.

i knew this guy in middle school who when asked about his future plans, even by school counselors or teachers would without fail always chant,

KICK ASS, GO TO SPACE
REPRESENT THE HUMAN RACE

i wonder what he’s up to these days.
